Microchipping Work?
A microchip is a tiny computer chip that’s no bigger than a grain of rice. It stores an identification number that’s unique to your pet and linked to your contact information. The chip is injected beneath your pet’s skin, right in between the shoulder blades, and remains in place for the duration of his or her life.
If your pet is lost and arrives at an animal shelter or veterinary hospital, he will be scanned for a microchip. Once his ID number is obtained, it will be used to access your contact information on the microchip registry. As long as your information is on file and updated, you’ll be notified and reunited with your pet promptly.
How Are Microchips Inserted?
Microchips are inserted with a quick, easy and painless procedure. No anesthesia is required, and the insertion is performed with a needle that’s similar to those used during vaccinations. The chip can be inserted during a visit for a routine exam or while your pet is at our Orange office and under anesthesia for surgery or another procedure.
